Sweets and kisses

Have you ever wondered why Hershey have named one of their products as kisses? Apparently, the machine which makes that type of chocolate makes a 'kissing sound'. Hershey's kisses has been one of my favourite chocolates.  The shape and size is unique and no one has managed to imitate the quality of Hershey's kisses. Not even the French kiss.

It is a festival season in India. The months of August, September and October hosts numerous festivals, both religious and non-religious. The exciting thing about this for students is that we get holidays during those festivals and it becomes even more beneficial if the festival  falls on a Friday or a Monday. The weekend becomes longer and everyone loves a long weekend. People take off to mini vacations or people just stay at home and celebrate with their friends and families. Last weekend in particular, we had one of these 'Long weekends' and as usual I was looking forward to this. The festival named Ganesh Chathurthi is celebrate to offer blessings to the Hindu elephant-headed god Ganesha. One main reason why I'm excited to celebrate this festival is because of sweets. My family makes a lot of sweets and I love to gobble all of them. There is this one particular sweet called the Modaka. In my language, we call it Kozhukatai. It has the same shape as Hershey's kisses. It is just bigger in size. That is why I started writing this post with Hershey's kisses. So these enlarged version of kisses are hollow inside filled with a sweet stuffing. The outer covering is made with flour. Hershey's kisses are entirely chocolate and it is solid throughout.

The similarities between these two are that they melt in the mouth when eaten. The kisses chocolate melts as a whole and the Modakas melt in layers.

Enough with the comparative study. The purpose of this blog post is to derive a relation between a sweet south Indian dish and an American candy. Another purpose of this post is my love for sweets. I want to declare to anyone reading this that I will never refuse sweets when offered. (Make notes).
